Workshop I  - The Science Behind Sustainability.

Sunday, April 10, 9 AM to 12 PM

The scientific basis for sustainability from first principles [thermodynamics, role of solar energy, species interaction and biological diversity]. Breakout sessions: science-based considerations relative to locating water treatment and sewage treatment facilities in remote areas.

Workshop II  - The Business Case for Sustainability.

Sunday, April 10, 1 PM to 4 PM

Why Sustainability makes good business sense.  This workshop will include real program information from three companies.  Breakout included: Identification of long term societal implications of two new technologies.  Presented in cooperation with The Center for Sustainable Technology Practices.

Workshop III - Applications of Sustainability in Industry

Tuesday, April 12, 7 PM to 9:30 PM

Will focus on how sustainability is measured and various metrics tools: lifecycle inventory, total benefit and cost assessment, metrics calculations.  Presented in cooperation with the Center for Sustainable Technology Practices.  Breakout: Walkthrough metrics calculation for acetic acid and/or Total Cost Assessment demonstration (dependent on enrollment).

Workshop IV  - Individual Activism

Wednesday, April 13, 7 PM to 9:30 PM

Will show what an individual can do to implement sustainability in business practices and the individual's daily lives.

A fifth workshop is planned on specific industrial cases; it is being developed by Tom Marrero of University of Missouri.
