Navigators Page
What does a navigator do?
The navigator performs a number of operations during a rally:
- In all types of rallies, reads/interprets the route instructions and helps the driver locate items referred to in the instructions.
- In TSD rallying (and perhaps in Gimmick), performs calculations to determine if the team is traveling at the proper speed for the leg.
- If the driver asks for some information, the navigator tries to relay this information to the driver.
There are a number of formulas that are useful to navigators in TSD rallying. Most are not very complex and require no more than plugging in numbers to a pre-defined formula. Those who understand basic algebraic concepts should find TSD Rally math rather simple to deal with. Check out our Resources page to find specific calculations and information about when to use them.
You can find out the time it should take to travel a mile of a specified distance over a specified time by dividing the Time in minutes by the Distance in miles.
Rate calculations can also be done from speed by dividing 60 by the speed in miles per hour.
