Subject: 05/12/02 Update from Kraig, Loren and Keren

Dear Friends and Family,

Hope all you mothers out there had a marvelous mother's day!  It was fun to join the ranks this year, though at the same time a little humbling.  I mean, it's such an incredibly large responsibility...and I'm just brand-new to the job.  Can I really class myself as "mother" along with those who have had so much more experience?  It's a good thing being a mom doesn't require a job application :) .  You can only learn it by doing!

It's already been over a week since we were in Philadelphia for Carrie's graduation and other events, like Keren's surgery are fast approaching.  Having that great experience behind us, though, helps with looking ahead at another hospital stay.....

Our trip went very well.  Keren did even better this time than when we went to North Carolina.  A little fussy now and then (who wouldn't be?), but obligingly slept for about three hours straight on the way in (and that was during the second half).  We were able to split our trip home up a bit by visiting Grandma Givens in Lancaster County, PA, and spending Sunday night with her.  That shortened Monday's trip by about two hours.

Carrie's graduation ceremony was very nice.  It was hard to believe that my "littlest" sister was actually graduating from college...and carrying off multiple honors to boot.  Not bad, Carrie!  We were more than proud!  She's going to be back in the MI area now, working for SEND International for two years as a short-term recruiter.  It will be wonderful having her nearby.

We were also able to see so many who have been praying for Keren--what a great opportunity!!!  Not only were there friends and former profs from Philadelphia Biblical University, but Sunday morning we were able to go to our PA "home" church, Glenside Bible and visit with friends there.  Another special treat was visiting with one of my cooperating teachers from student teaching days.  Keren behaved quite well considering how many people she was introduced to....she slept half the time and smiled the other half :) .

Now we're home again, and as I said looking toward Keren's surgery (May 21).  Kraig has finished this semester of school and is looking toward a summer of cranking out work on his dissertation....of course, there's also a family wedding in the mix, too....

Looks like that's it for now!  We're hoping to get photo updates on our website soon and will let you know as soon as that is done.

Talk to you soon!

Love,

Loren for all
