Dear friends and family,
Well, we're still here, and it looks like at this point
we're just waiting for "Miss Baggins" to make her grand
entrance. It's very comforting to
know that she can be born at any time now and be considered full term.
We went in to the doctor's today for another round of
treatments and non-stress tests (NST).
We've gotten to know the baby's heartbeat quite well--amazing that after
my being hooked up to a fetal-heartbeat monitor for a good hour or so every few
days Kraig and I haven't gone bonkers with the constant sound. It's actually become a very reassuring
measure. Anyway, all was fine with
that, and afterward we had another ultrasound to follow up the one we had two
weeks ago. The results: Baggins is
still small, but still growing, and her growth rate is following the right type
of curve. Our doctor also was able
to get a doppler reading from the blood flow in the baby's umbilical cord and
that also still looks just as it should.
So what's the verdict? At the moment, we can continue as we have been with
treatments, NSTs and ultrasounds.
Our doctor sees no need for more invasive or drastic measures. He said that the frequent NSTs give him
the best measure of how Baggins is doing.
So....we may actually go to our due date (September 27) unless Baggins
gets other ideas (which wouldn't be a terrible thing :) ). The longest we would go, our doctor said,
is one week after the due date (forty-one weeks).
Anyway, that's the update! Once again, your prayers have been a wonderful encouragement
to us. I know the reason we're as
calm as we are (and have been) is because God is using you. Hope you aren't worrying in our
place! It's nice to have the extra
time to get things organized more around here!
We'll keep you posted.
Love, Loren (for Kraig and Baggins as well)
