In light of the laws and provisions regarding accessibility that are outlined in The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Telecommunications Act of 1996 (TA 96), and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (RA 508), it is imperative that engineers, web authors, and others be cognizant of the legal and social concerns that surround the issue of accessible design--an issue that will significantly impact the course of their professional activities.
In an effort to recognize and meet the information acquisition needs of all Internet users, the Enabling Technologies Lab promotes the incorporation of Web accessibility standards into the design of World Wide Web media.
